Evy Schubert
EVY SCHUBERT born in 1981, is a German director and video artist, living in Berlin.
Evy Schubert studied Photography and Philosophy in Paris (Spéos Photographic Institute; Université Sorbonne), Communication & Social Sciences in
Erfurt (B.A.) as well as Theatre Science in Berlin (M.A.). Parallel to her studies she got educated as a director at the theatre Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Berlin where she has worked with directors such as Herbert Fritsch and Dimiter Gotscheff (e.g. for „Prometheus“; „Die (S)panische Fliege“; „Murmel Murmel“).
The works of Evy Schubert explore the cutting points of theatre, film and performance. Her debut “Vodopad” was premiered at Ballhaus Ost Berlin and was shown in the program “New German Film” at Kino Babylon Berlin (2010). Further works, such as the video performance “Penthesilea (Pathology)” were shown at theatre, video and performance festivals all over the world (2011). “Le monde tombé” was awarded as the winning film of the Façade Video Festival Plovdiv (2012). Her filmic triptych “Time” was premiered at Ballhaus Ost Berlin and got exhibited at Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Berlin as well as at the Gallery Art Claims Impulse, Berlin, (2013). In 2014 Evy Schubert participated at the East West Talent Lab of the GoEast Filmfestival in Wiesbaden where she was nominated for the goEast Development Award and she took part in the International Forum of the Berliner Theatertreffen, Haus der Berliner Festspiele, Berlin. Furthermore Evy Schubert worked as a guest lecturer at the University of Erfurt (2014/ 2016). For 2014/15 Evy Schubert received an artist grant funded by the ACC Gallery and by the city of Weimar and realized the experimental film Corridor No. 50″. In 2016 she took part in the Fellow in Residence Program for young philosophers and artists at Kolleg Friedrich Nietzsche, Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and realized the film „Dominus Dixit“ that got commissioned by and was exhibited at Motorenhalle/ riesa efau, Dresden in 2016. The Berlin premiere took place at Ballhaus Ost along with the premiere of „Westend“, a theatre play by Evy Schubert (2016). In 2016 the play „Golden Matters“, written and directed by Evy Schubert, also got premiered at Ballhaus Ost, Berlin.
